Physiotherapy in Panorama City

Physiotherapy is the term used for the soft tissue therapies we offer at Paramount Family Health Centers. It is an integral part of our comprehensive approach to helping people recover as fully as possible from musculoskeletal injuries such as those caused by car crashes, workplace or other types of accidents.

The broad term “physiotherapy” includes all of the exercises, stretches, machines and manual therapies provided by our chiropractors and physiotherapists.

Our Approach

Our highly-trained team has decades of experience providing the care you need to recover from an accident. While our chiropractic adjustments help restore proper alignment and motion to the joints of the spine and extremities, it is important to address the damage to the muscles, ligaments and tendons as well. If left to heal on their own, calcification frequently occurs and this accounts for much of the stiffness and tightness that patients experience months or years after an accident.

Based on our thorough examination, we will design a care plan specifically for your needs. It may include some or all of the following therapies:

  • Acupuncture: Acupuncture helps the body release the stored “memory” of the accident trauma.
  • E-stim (or EMS): Electrical current is used to stimulate muscles to ease spasms, alleviate pain and re-educate muscles.
  • Intersegmental Traction: Often called a “roller table”, this relaxes muscles.
  • Massage: We will use hands-on or mechanical massage to ease affected muscles.
  • Matrix: Cutting edge pain relief technology.
  • Myofascial release: Releases muscle “knots” to reduce pain and tightness.
  • Cold Laser: Promotes healing in the soft tissues and re-educates the muscles and ligaments.
  • Non-surgical Spinal Decompression: Creates negative pressure to pull discs back into proper position to facilitate healing.
  • Paraffin Bath: Warm wax soothes arthritis in hands.
  • Shockwave Therapy: Specific wavelengths of sound promote healing in damaged muscles and ligaments.
  • Ultrasound: Relaxes muscles.

You will receive your physiotherapy modalities prior to your chiropractic adjustments. By relaxing the muscles, your adjustment can be done with lower force, making it more comfortable for you. We do not offer physiotherapy as a stand-alone modality; it is part of your overall care plan.
